Rocky was with us for one month last fall as a two year old to start under saddle. After the winter off to grow-up, Rocky came back this spring as a three year old ready to begin training.
Tina's goals for Rocky this year included showing him in the material and dressage suitability classes at Morven Park and Fair Hill breed shows and finish with the Dressage at Devon breed show. With Rocky's great temperament and rideability, in less than three months he was ready for his first show. Tina, being a little unsure of how a three year old would handle his first outing, asked me to ride Rocky at his first show. She would have had little to be concerned with however. Rocky was a star!
Tina and Rocky stayed on at Windward Stables for the next few months to cement their partnership. During this time Rocky started schooling over fences, hacked out and Tina was able to show him herself at the Fair Hill Breed Show. They even ended up AWR Champion of the Show!
The end goal for the season and highlight was Tina taking Rocky herself to the Dressage at Devon Breed Show. Rocky placed sixth in Material, seventh in Dressage Suitability and first in the AWR breed class.

Icing on the cake...Rocky ended up winning the 2009 AWR Dressage Sport Horse Award and will be featured in the 2010 AWR Stallion Calendar. Congratulations to Tina and Bernadette LaMonte (Rocky's breeder)!
Congratulations to Tina and Rocky for their success this year! Rocky will be taking a well deserved winter break but we look forward to following him next year on his new training adventures.
